New Hampshire Action Steps

Three important bills (HB1533 / HB1567HB1619) in New Hampshire are designed to act as a firewall to thwart some of the worst practical effects of federal surveillance and tracking programs.  This is an important first step for a state to take to push back against warrantless surveillance by the NSA – and other government entities. (read about the bills here).

Your action is needed today to help these bills move forward in the Senate!

STATUS - All three have passed the state house. HB1533 passed out of the senate judiciary committee and the full senate.

HB1533 – Passed committee 12-1 on 02-18. Passed House on 03-05 by voice vote. Passed Senate. To the Governor.
HB1619 – Passed committee  16-1 on 02-20. Passed House on 03-12 by voice vote. Senate “laid on table”
HB1567 – Passed committee 17-0 on 03-04. Passed House on 03-12 by voice vote. Senate committee referred for further study

TAKE ACTION TODAY:

1. Call the Governor. Be strong, but respectful. Urge her to SIGN HB1533 into law when it gets to her desk.

Gov. Maggie Hassan (603)271-2121

2. SHARE this information widely. By facebook, twitter, email, and more.

3. Write a letter to the editor. Look up your local newspaper and submit a letter to the editor voicing your support for HB1533 this year and additional legislation in 2015. It is essential to protect the electronic data of NH residents from undue government intrusion. Passing these bills will help make that happen.
