New Hampshire Action Steps

Three important bills (HB1533 / HB1567HB1619) in New Hampshire are designed to act as a firewall to thwart some of the worst practical effects of federal surveillance and tracking programs.  This is an important first step for a state to take to push back against warrantless surveillance by the NSA – and other government entities. (read about the bills here).

Your action is needed today to help these bills move forward in the Senate!

STATUS - All three have passed the state house and are under consideration in the Senate Judiciary committee, where there has been some pushback by leadership to block the bills from passage.

HB1533 – Passed committee 12-1 on 02-18. Passed House on 03-05 by voice vote.
HB1619 – Passed committee  16-1 on 02-20. Passed House on 03-12 by voice vote.
HB1567 – Passed committee 17-0 on 03-04. Passed House on 03-12 by voice vote.

TAKE ACTION TODAY:

1. Call the Senate Judiciary chair. Let her know that you support HB1533, HB1567 AND HB1619 – and that you’d like to see her quickly move the bills forward to a vote on the senate floor.

Sen. Sharon Carson: (603) 271-1403

2. Call the rest of the Senate judiciary committee members. Strongly, but respectfully, urge EACH of them to vote YES on HB1533, HB1567 AND HB1619.

Sen. David Boutin (603) 271-3092
