All Spying is Local: Time for Action!

Blueprint to Stop NSA Spying

A local update and meeting alert from our friends at the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition.

With a lot of focus placed on NSA spying, what’s been missing is the exposé of spying centers located in our communities and amongst our midst. As we speak about the invasion of privacy, racial profiling, criminalizing innocent behavior, wasting community resources, Fusion Centers or Local Spy Centers continue loading our information into massive databases to be shared with every local, federal, campus, and tribal law enforcement agency. Not only that, our privacy and personal information is also being reported in secret files by such agencies as Wildlife and Fisheries, Housing and Urban Development, Social Security Administration – all part of the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) initiative.

There are an estimated 80+ fusion centers around the country and Guess What! one of the largest ones is right here in LA County – in Norwalk. The Stop LAPD Spying Coalition organized a rally and protest at the Norwalk Fusion Center in December 2012. This first-of-its-kind action resulted in the community disrupting their business and shutting it down temporarily, at least for a couple of hours. ITS TIME TO GO BACK and this time its turning into a multi-city action.

Join us at the coalition meeting on Tuesday March 18th (location and time listed above). Be a part of the planning process for a historic historic National Day of Action!
