The problem: bulk collection of innocent American’s private data.
The solution: you.
Whistleblowers such as Edward Snowden have made it painfully obvious that the federal government does not respect the constitutional rights of the people.
By now it is not a surprise.
What is a surprise is the celebration that ensued after the expiration of the Patriot Act’s NSA spying provisions and the passing of the USA ‘Freedom’ Act. This Act is anything but free, and the expiration of the Patriot Act hardly scratches the surface.
The very idea behind the Freedom Act was that it was supposed to be a ‘halfway point’ between national security and personal liberties. The bill was supposed to protect your freedoms. But it took only a few hours after being signed into law before the NSA’s bulk data collection program was back on line.
Indeed, it took the Justice Department less than an hour after the president’s signature was made to release a memo announcing its intentions to seek a new court order for the “bulk production of tangible things under the law.”
It is time to wake up America. A recent study from Princeton University showed that a bill had just as likely of a chance at passing whether it was incredibly popular or incredibly unpopular with the American public. In case that doesn’t spell it out for you enough: the federal government DOES NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK.
In order to solve this problem, it takes people like you.
It takes emails, phone calls, petitions, and local/state candidates who are willing to stand up to the federal overreach and say enough is enough. That is where you come in, and that is where OffNow is here to help.
OffNow is dedicated to holding state legislatures accountable. It is dedicated to pushing legislation through on the state and local levels that represents the people and represents the Constitution.
The 4th Amendment guarantees the freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. There are some who would say that this can be waived in the name of national security. But the truth is, it was written to ENSURE these protections during a time where national security is threatened. Far too often throughout history, it can be seen that when trouble comes knocking, the federal government will swoop in to centralize power, and encroach on the liberties of the people. This is unacceptable. It is time to restore our rights.
